The basketball team at USC is getting more and more talented.
Bronny James, the son of superstar LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers, had already been signed by the Trojans. DJ Rodman has recently made the announcement via social media that he will transfer to USC.
The son of legendary NBA rebounder Dennis Rodman played at Washington State for the past four seasons. The 6-foot-6 forward started 30 of the Cougars’ 31 games last season and averaged 9.6 points and 5.8 rebounds.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Rodman will take advantage of an NCAA rule that gives him an extra year of eligibility to play for the Trojans near his home town of Newport Beach.
On Wednesday, Trojans coach Andy Enfield also stated that James had signed a national letter of intent. The guard shared his commitment to the Trojans on social media over the weekend, and his father talked about it after the Lakers won the playoffs.
Arrinten Page, a forward, and guard Isaiah Collier have already been signed by the Trojans. They’ll join returning starters Boogie Ellis, Kobe Johnson and Joshua Morgan. Last year, Ellis scored 17.7 points per game on average, and Johnson and Morgan were named to the Pac-12 All-Defensive team.
USC reached the NCAA tournament three times in a row last season, going 22-11. Michigan State defeated the Trojans 72-62 in the first round.
At Sierra Canyon School in Chatsworth, James averaged 13.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.8 steals as a senior. He participated for Team USA in the Nike Hoop Summit and was named to the McDonald’s All-American team.
Collier, of Marietta, Georgia, was the top scorer for the West group with 25 places in the McDonald’s All American game and was named co-MVP.
Page and Collier were teammates at Wheeler High in Marietta.
