Beetlejuice 2’s most recent addition is Willem Dafoe. Dafoe will play “a law enforcement officer in the afterlife.” Dafoe joins Jenna Ortega, Michael Keaton, and Winona Ryder, the last two repeating their jobs from the primary film. Ortega, on the other hand, is said to be playing Lydia Deetz, Ryder’s daughter.
Catherine O’Hara is likewise getting back from the first. Justin Theroux and Monica Bellucci have supposedly been given a role as well.
Plot information is currently kept under wraps as Tim Burton returns to direct. Beetlejuice 2 production is expected to begin this month.
Keaton and Ryder have acknowledged that a Beetlejuice 2 is in the works, and Burton stated in 2017 that it was “closer than ever” to being made. The hotly anticipated continuation was authoritatively affirmed by Warner Bros. Discovery at CinemaCon 2023 held the month before.
Beetlejuice 2 is set to release in theaters on Sept. 6, 2024, which is that very day Wonder is supposed to deliver its Edge reboot. Disney could, however, push back Blade’s release date because, as we learned last week, pre-production has been halted once more due to the ongoing writers’ strike that is affecting numerous big- and small-screen projects.
