The program, which has thrived in its second life thanks to streaming, is getting near to beginning a new chapter, this time in an upscale legal practice in sunny Los Angeles.
A pilot for Aaron Korsh’s spinoff “Suits: LA” has been ordered by NBC.
According to a network logline, the spinoff is centered on Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor from New York who shifts gears and moves to the West coast to represent wealthy clients.

“Suits: LA” would be the second spinoff in the “Suits” world if it were ordered to series, and it would be another illustration of how streaming success can unexpectedly extend the life of a television program.
The 2011 television series “Suits” followed the tale of two attorneys (Patrick J. Adams and Gabriel Macht) navigating relationships, rivalries, and betrayals within their teams at a prestigious Manhattan law firm. 2019 saw the conclusion of the nine-season show on the USA Network.
After the show’s Netflix premiere, a surge of new fans saw it for the first time. Variety said that the sitcom smashed a streaming record set by “The Office” last year, despite the streamer not disclosing official numbers.
Before leaving the show soon before marrying Prince Harry in 2018, Meghan, who was previously known as Meghan Markle and is now the Duchess of Sussex, portrayed as astute paralegal Rachel Zane. Even though the program had a small but devoted fan base at the time, it was her most renowned performance as an actress.
The Royal recently described the show’s resurgence as “wild.”
In addition, Sarah Rafferty, Rick Hoffman, Gina Torres, and Abigail Spencer starred in “Suits.”
According to the logline, the “Suits: LA” pilot will have a group of individuals who assist the protagonist, just like the original. It’s unclear if any of the original cast members will appear in cameos.
There were cameos from the original series in “Pearson,” the first spinoff of the original series starring Torres that appeared in 2019.
In television development, ordering a pilot episode is typical procedure. The decision-makers at networks use this one episode to assess if a proposed program has enough potential to be ordered for a full season. Pilots often serve as the first episode of the first season of a television show, assuming the network decides to produce additional episodes.
NBC reports that “Suits: LA” production will begin in Vancouver towards the end of March. Filming for the first series took place in Toronto.
