Booker Sets Suns Scoring Record Despite Loss to Portland

Devin Booker passed Walter Davis to become the Phoenix Suns’ all-time leading scorer, but his historic night ended in disappointment as the Suns lost 121-119 to the Portland Trail Blazers.

Booker, who scored all 34 points, broke Davis’ old record of 15,666 career points for Phoenix. He reached the milestone with a three-pointer in the third quarter, earning a standing ovation from the Portland crowd. During the subsequent timeout, he hugged his family on the sidelines to celebrate.

However, the night took a disappointing turn when Booker missed a crucial free throw in overtime that would have tied the game. The Trail Blazers narrowly won.

A four-time All-Star, Booker has spent his entire career with the Suns since being selected 13th overall in the 2015 NBA Draft. He has now played 642 games for the team, while Davis, a six-time All-Star, has played 10 games for the Suns. Star played 766 games for Phoenix from 1977 to 1988.
