A Revised Release Date of October 2026 Has Been Set for Jordan Peele’s Next Film

October 23, 2026 will now mark the release of the Oscar-winning director’s fourth picture. The original release date of December 25, 2024 was announced in March 2023, two months before the WGA strike that, along with the SAG-AFTRA strike beginning in July, brought production to a halt for the majority of the year. That is a huge jump in schedule. Due to the postponement, Universal decided to remove the movie from its schedule; Peele shared the new release date on social media.

Apart from that tiny bit of information, very little is known about the project—not even the logline or potential cast members. Peele did, however, touch on the movie in passing on the “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend” podcast on January 1.

“I do feel like my next project is clear to me, and I’m psyched that I have another film that, you know, could be my favorite movie if I make it right,” he remarked.

Featuring Daniel Kaluuya and Allison Williams, Peele’s 2017 thriller “Get Out” marked his feature debut and catapulted the comedy star into the A-list of auteur directors. The film garnered critical acclaim for its incisive parable of racial appropriation, took in $255 million at the global box office, and earned Peele an Oscar for best original screenplay. His second movie, the thriller “Us,” starring Lupita Nyong’o and Winston Duke, brought in $256 million worldwide. His sci-fi thriller “Nope,” starring Kaluuya and Keke Palmer, brought in $172 million worldwide.

Through his production company, Monkeypaw Productions, Peele has also been a prolific film and television producer, helming films such as 2018’s “BlacKkKlansman,” 2021’s “Candyman,” and the 2022 animated feature “Wendell & Wild,” which he co-wrote with director Henry Selick. The series that Peele has produced include HBO’s “Lovecraft Country” and Amazon’s “Hunters.” Peele most recently supported Dev Patel’s first directorial effort, “Monkey Man,” joining as a producer and convincing Universal to buy the Netflix movie.
