While a few stars get butterflies in their stomachs before the Academy Awards, Regina King settled on a butterfly-inspired gown instead.
The “Watchmen” star, 50, dazed on the Oscars 2021 red carpet on Sunday, April 25, wearing a custom sky blue Louis Vuitton dress.
Notwithstanding the dramatic winged shoulders, the fit-for-a-fairytale gown included glittery embellishments and a plunging neckline.
The show-stopping style made history for the Vuitton atelier with its record-breaking 62,000 Swarovski crystals, per Vogue.
“We wanted to keep that element of fantasy,” Wayman Bannerman, one of King’s stylists, told the famed fashion glossy. “For Regina, this is a new move in terms of the look’s architecture and silhouette.”
King sported the Cinderella-esque style to open the ceremony and present the first honor of the night at the in-person awards show.
While her directorial debut, “One Night in Miani,” didn’t acquire King an Oscar nomination, the film is up for three awards, including a Best Supporting Actor gesture for Leslie Odom Jr.
Odom, who captured everyone’s attention with his stunning style this awards season, sparkled in a head-to-toe gold look on Sunday’s red carpet.
He and King weren’t the only ones settling on stunning designs, as Carey Mulligan, Colman Domingo and Daniel Kaluuya all comparatively selected sparkling styles for the Oscars.
