Samsung unveiled the Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35, two new members of the Galaxy A family, a little more than a month ago.
The Galaxy A35 may now be bought in the United States through Samsung.com, Samsung retail locations, and “major carriers and retailers” as of April 18. The phone is available in Awesome Navy and Awesome Lilac, depending on where you get it. Its starting price, little under $400, is significantly less than that of the Galaxy S24, which was released earlier this year. Remarkably, the Galaxy A55 will not be available in the United States at this time.
What then does a $400 Samsung phone get you in 2024? It turns out, a good many of them, in fact.
A 6.6-inch Super AMOLED display with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz and Full HD+ resolution is located on the front of the Galaxy A35. A 50-megapixel primary camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 5MP macro camera are situated around the rear. Your 13MP front camera will serve you well for all your selfie needs.
How about the internal specifications? There’s a 5,000 mAh battery with up to 25-watt wired charging, 6GB RAM, 128GB of expandable storage (which can be expanded to 1TB), and an Exynos 1380 chipset—the same one found in the Galaxy A54. Additionally, Android 14 is pre-installed, it has an IP67 classification for dust and water resistance, and Samsung guarantees four major Android updates in addition to five years of security patches. That’s a fairly good package for a $400 smartphone.
The $400 price of the Galaxy A35 is somewhat less than that of some of our other top picks for low-cost smartphones on the market right now, such the $500 OnePlus 12R and the soon-to-be-replaced Google Pixel 7a (also known as the Google Pixel 8a). Although the A35 still needs to be tested, it’s good to have an even more affordable choice to think about, and the spec sheet seems promising.
Samsung is running a few promotions if you’re interested in purchasing the Galaxy A35 for yourself. These will further reduce the cost of the phone. Purchase the Galaxy A35 to receive a 30% discount on the Galaxy Buds FE for a “limited time.” As an alternative, you can get up to a $150 credit toward the purchase of an A35 by trading in your old phone.
